UPDATE — May 2, 2024, 3:45 p.m.

The victim of the deadly shooting that happened late Tuesday night on Prospect Place has been identified as Zackery Schwaller, 24 of Knoxville.

Homicide Unit detectives are continuing to gather any and all pertinent evidence. At this time, no suspects have been identified, arrested or charged.

Anyone with information that could assist detectives’ investigative efforts is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can be eligible to receive a cash reward.

Knoxville Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a deadly overnight shooting.

At around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, KPD officers responded to a report of a shooting with a victim in the 1800 block of Prospect Place in the Morningside area. Officers arrived on scene and found a man lying on the ground who had been shot at least one time. The victim was transported from the scene to the UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

There is no suspect description and, as of this morning, detectives are continuing to canvas for potential evidence.
